DIGNITY OF LABOR III
The law firm of Cantor, Lukasik, Dolce & Panepinto is proud to announce its plans for this year’s Third Annual "Dignity of Labor" event to be held in downtown Buffalo at the Bijou Grille on Friday, September 28, 2007. Each year Cantor, Lukasik, Dolce & Panepinto has invited the community to an evening celebrating workers and those who help advance worker’s rights and workplace safety and health.
This year’s "Dignity of Labor" event begins with a cocktail reception featuring today’s most exciting worker’s rights advocates, including those currently engaged in the struggle to enforce Buffalo’s own Living Wage Ordinance.
Buffalo photographer, Greg Halpern, will exhibit photographs from his best selling book "Harvard Works Because We Do" which chronicles the strike of Harvard University workers for a living wage. Mr. Halpern will have copies of his book on hand and will be available for book signing, as well as sale of his photographic art.
In keeping with an annual tradition, Cantor, Lukasik, Dolce & Panepinto will present a Lifetime Achievement Award. This year it will go to Roger Cook for his vital contributions in promoting workplace safety and health and worker rights.
Another special highlight of the evening’s events will be a private viewing of Buffalo playwright, actor and union organizer, Manny Fried’s new one-man play, "Boilermakers and Martinis" to be held next door at "The Road Less Traveled Theater" in the Market Arcade on Main Street. In this new play Mr. Fried, at the age of 94, reveals his insider’s perspective on the struggle here in Buffalo for union representation during the tumultuous years of World War II and the toll that these efforts took on his personal life. A reception immediately following the play will include Manny Fried, as well as music provided by some of Buffalo’s finest jazz musicians.
Cantor, Lukasik, Dolce & Panepinto welcomes all to mark the date, Friday, September 28, 2007, and to join in the Third Annual "Dignity of Labor" celebration!
